I had the Fenix 3HR before I decided to purchase the Fenix 5X. The Fenix 5X is a bit heavier than my old Fenix three HR. The new silicone strap is super comfortable so the extra few grams of the 5X is not noticeable. I actually wear this watch all day without having to take it off. I couldn’t do that with the 3HR. Garmin Fenix 3 is, as you guessed, the successor to the Fenix 2.Garmin has fixed all of the biggest complaints about that watch, with the biggest being the slow GPS acquisition.

Garmin Fenix 3 watches can experience wear in all components, including the electronics. If resetting the watch does not solve the issue, the motherboard or GPS antenna may require replacement. Replace them one at a time, and check if this solves the problem. My other choice was a Suunto Traverse but now I'm glad I chose the Fenix 3. The screens are easy to customize, and the different watch colors and downloadable faces make it fun to have on your wrist. Not one problems with the software yet! If your on the fence go with the Fenix 3, it's a winner.
